This book is one of the best internet books available.
The book is very well-organized, and walks you through how to test and what to test.
Further, the writing is easy and enjoyable to read.

This book was much more thorough than I was expecting, which was a fantastic surprise. If you need a good practical resource for how to use Google Optimizer and also need hints about what to test, this book is perfect.
I read through it very quickly although I didn't apply all the exercises. I'm a web designer, so I already had a familiar ground with a lot of the stuff discussed and could imagine how much of the things would improve a website because a lot of theme are things I also apply to my own design work. However, there was still a lot of information that was new to me and I had never did testing with Google Optimizer before so that whole first section of the book talking about that was very important for me as well.
I would say, to get the most out of this book, you need to take time to go through all the questions and exercises in the second section of the book. There are a lot of really useful tips, but in order to thoroughly understand them, you really need to apply them and do some experimentation of your own in a live environment. As with anything you learn, you need to take the concepts and make them your own in order to master them and this is no different.

Nice guide to Google Website optimization. However, what's with the really badly rendered screenshots in the book? The screenshots must've been like only 96dpi or something cause it is really hard to view and relate back to the text. You would think that the editors would be sure the quality of the photos matched the quality of the text.

I have to admit I got stuck in the middle of this book. I would not start this book unless you are actively optimizing your website, otherwise as it gets too technical for light reading. However, if you are doing an optimization of your site this book will be very valuable to you. I got bogged down with Part I, and advise you to skim it and go directly to Part II.
I'm going to skip past the sermon about how marketing and tech don't get along, because most of us have heard it before, so you can probably afford to skip it here as well. Secondly, a lot of Part I seemed like I would be able to figure it out just by using Google Online Optimizer, but you may enjoy the reference here. Once you get through the dozens of pages of the marketing vs. tech debate you will find the bit about Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs interesting so make sure you don't skip it. Finally, if you learn like I do from examples/case studies, you will find dozens of them in Part II of the book. Many of them even have great screen shots, great for visual learners like me.
